The Chateau Sonesta Hotel New Orleans retains its pre-Civil War origins with alabaster pillars salvaged from the department store's original soda fountain, marble floors, the courtyard's cypress exposed beams and the famous clock, which still hangs from its perch on Canal Street. The hotel is home to one of the city's most popular restaurants, Ralph Brennan's Red Fish Grille, that serves signature dishes such as coconut-crusted shrimp. Tempo breakfast restaurant serves American- and French-style buffets. The sophisticated ambience of the Clock Bar has attracted patrons since its D.H. Holmes Department Store days.
