While Voodoo is often relegated to the world of bad movie story lines and revenge fantasies, the Voudan Religion (as it is formally known) is a serious part of life for many. Practitioners believe that through Voudan you obtain a better self-balance in all aspects of life. Contrary to the popular notion, the religion offers more than "spells" and "curses". There is a rich heritage in Voudan that extends to every aspect of life, family and spirituality.

In an effort to educate the public and to provide service to the community, the The Voodoo Spiritual Temple was established in 1990. It is the only "formally" established Spiritual Temple with a focus on traditional West African spiritual and herbal healing practices currently existing in New Orleans. Its purpose is to educate people about the Voudan Religion, themselves and activities that occur in everyday life. This is a fascinating place where you can learn much about one of the world's ancient belief systems.
